Priyanandanan's Malayalam film ÂPulijanmamÂ, bagged the Best Feature Film Award in the 54th National Film Awards that were announced in New Delhi today.
This film released in 2006, is the second film by Priyanandhanan after his critically acclaimed debut in 'Neythukaaran'. The movie features Murali, Sindhu Menon ,Salim Kumar,Samvritha Sunil, and Vineeth Kumar.
The film tells the story of contemporary society through the eyes of an activist, who is there to speak for the public, their problems and their undertakings. Based on N Prabhakaran's play by the same name, the movie is a reconciliation of the drama theme which is based on puranic, ethnic characters and situations with that of today.
As we rightly noted in our reviews in Indiaglitz ''Even though the crowd doesn't seem to grace the theatres for this serious attempt, it's sure to bring in much prizes and accolades to the mother language''.
Rightly bringing back the lost credibility in awards judgments, 'Pulijanmam' by winning the biggest award in the national circuit, has also made its mother language and its filmmakers proud in every sense.
